Junior Lifeguard Volunteer
The Ashland Optimist Pool Board is introducing and testing a new program. We are seeking responsible individuals who are 12 or older as of January 1, 2018.
This program is designed to combine certification opportunities, work experience, skill development, teamwork and leadership skills. Volunteers will be paired with certified instructors when volunteering. Volunteers are encouraged to attend Saturday morning in-service training with the certified lifeguards for continued training and volunteer during pool operation hours. Volunteers will assist in a variety of daily tasks performed by certified lifeguards from testing and adding chemicals, snack inventory to cleaning the deck, bathrooms and concession area. Volunteer hours are flexible and based on the volunteer and assigned certified lifeguards schedule.
How to Volunteer: You will need to complete the Junior Lifeguard Volunteer application. DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS IS APRIL 5TH!

Interviews will be conducted as there are limited spots available. The position is contingent upon your completion of the Junior Lifeguard Training 2018 through the Jefferson City Parks and Recreation. Graduates will then be allowed to volunteer at the Ashland Optimist Pool and have a free membership to the Ashland Optimist Pool all summer long.
Uniform: No string bikinis; workout/athletic bikinis or one piece suits only. Junior Lifeguard t-shirt will be provided and worn during volunteer times. No suits or shirts can say “lifeguard”.
